Teaching Fellow

Teaching Fellows occupy a unique leadership role within the McNair & RGPN community by coordinating McNair & RGPN Scholars Family gatherings, fostering relationships among cohorts, supporting the application and orientation process (including Group Interview Day and Orientation & Bridge Weekend), and promoting the programs across campus.

Ambassador of Special Events

Student staff responsible for supporting event planning in the RGPN McNair community, including sessions relating to recruitment and the orientation of new students, and engaging the community beyond their academics. This role also supports in planning extracurricular events to facilitate event bonding and assisting in promoting open RGPN McNair events to the larger UMBC community.

Ambassador of Mentorship Development

Student staff primarily supporting scholars in navigating faculty/staff mentorships. This role includes tracking of mandatory monthly mentor meetings and curating space for mentors and McNair/RGPN community members to connect and overseeing the Scholar to Scholar (S2S) Pod experience by providing incremental check-in spaces with selected student leaders.

Ambassador of Archives, Inventory, Records

Student staff overseeing the organization of program datasets, including the submission of semesterly assignments from Scholars and RGPN and supporting program students in the completion of such assignments. This role also primarily maintains the inventory and stock logistics of program items.

Ambassador of Scholar Development

Student staff responsible for supporting scholars in their pursuit of graduate school admission and perseverance. Key roles include overseeing the publication of the weekly newsletter, and curating scholar resources such as campus events relevant to portfolio enhancement, REU experiences, and other opportunities. Additional responsibilities related to the promotion of Scholar engagement in the program may be assigned.

Ambassador of RGPN Development

Student staff working closely with the Graduate Assistant to support the programming and outreach of RGPN. Other responsibilities include outreach to the UMBC community to encourage student participation in the network and support in planning for monthly RGPN general meetings to maintain RGPN engagement.

Ambassador of Public Relations

Student staff overseeing UMBC McNair public facing social media and other channels of outreach, including myUMBC and the program website. This role is primarily responsible in ensuring the public UMBC McNair information are up to date and accurate and is responsible for promoting RGPN McNair activities in various forms of social media to engage current Scholars, RGPN, alumni, and prospective students.

Ambassador of Visual Storytelling

Student staff primarily responsible for capturing candid visuals during scheduled programming. This role works closely with Public Relations to share program impact with relevant stakeholders.
