Conference Details

  • Dates: September 17th – September 20th, 2025
  • Location: Sheraton Baltimore Inner Harbor at 300 S. Charles St, Baltimore, MD 21201
  • Theme: “Rooted In Resilience: Constructing Livable Worlds in the Academy”
  • Keynote Speaker: Dr. Yolanda Valencia, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography & Environmental Systems at UMBC and an alum of the Eastern Washington University (EWU) McNair Scholars Program. Her lecture title is “Roots and Resilience Across Borders: Resisting Legal Death in and across the U.S. and Mexico”.
Events:
  • Pre-Conference Cultural Visit (Sept. 17th): A tour of Baltimore, the National Great Blacks in Wax Museum, and a Maryland crab experience (additional costs apply).
  • 3-Day Conference (Sept. 18th – 20th): Includes the Hill-Robinson McNair Lecture, a Friday evening cruise on the Baltimore Inner Harbor (for the first 275 registrants), a visit to UMBC with campus tours, a virtual research symposium, poster and oral presentations, and a graduate school fair with over 60 institutions anticipated.
