Description

Have you ever heard of a National Lab?

Join us on Wednesday, February 15th in ILSB 237 to have a chance to speak with April Augustine, Project Manager, at the Pacific Northwest National Lab (PNNL).

PNNL is a leading center for scientific discovery in chemistry, data analytics, and Earth Science, and for technological innovation in sustainable energy and national security. They employ individuals from a variety of disciplines including:

  • Biological Sciences
  • Chemistry
  • Earth & Coastal Sciences
  • Materials Sciences
  • Nuclear & Particle Physics
  • Quantum Information Systems

To address the nation’s growing need for clean energy, PNNL discovers new chemical transformations that are fast and selective and new chemistries and materials for advanced energy storage. PNNL seeks ways to understand, predict, and even control how a biological system responds to changes to its genetic code or surrounding environment. PNNL explores the impact of the vast whirl of aerosol-laden clouds on our climate and advance the frontiers of scientific research and national security by applying artificial reasoning to scientific problems. Understanding the fundamental science behind chemical and biological systems leads us to work on solving the greatest challenges of our future.

PNNL has a variety of summer internship opportunities including:

HS-WIRED, Homeland Security Workforce opportunities to Increase Research Engagement and Diversity. HS-WIRED is open to undergraduate and graduate students interested in supporting cutting-edge research with the nation’s leading scientists, engineers, and program specialists that seeks to make our nation safer and more resilient by providing solutions to complex homeland security-related problems.
